                      How To Install
-----------------------------------------------------------


RPM Linux users:
1. Install Tcl/TK for your platform if it is not already installed. Tcl/TK
can be downloaded for FREE from http://www.scriptics.com. If you are not
the system administrator for your location, contact your system
administrator for assistance. 

2. Download The OpenVerse software here. This is an easy to instal RPM file. 
3. Install The OpenVerse program with the following command...


rpm -i OpenVerse-0.3-6.noarch.rpm


If you are upgrading from a previous version, use this command. 

rpm -U OpenVerse-0.3-6.noarch.rpm


4. Run the OpenVerse program and click connect! thats it, just type to chat,
you will learn it's features over time.





UNIX users:
1. Install Tcl/TK for your platform if it is not already installed. Tcl/TK
can be downloaded for FREE from http://www.scriptics.com. If you are not
the system administrator for your location, contact your system
administrator for assistance. 
2. Download The OpenVerse software. 
3. Uncompress The OpenVerse program with the following command...


zcat OpenVerse.tar.gz | tar -xvf -


NOTE, ON UNIX SYSTEMS, THE OpenVerse PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO BE INSTALLED
IN A CENTRAL LOCATION. A UNIQUE HOME DIRECTORY WILL BE CREATED FOR EACH
USER AS ~/.OpenVerse. It is suggested that you install the OpenVerse dir
in /usr/lib and make a symbolic link from /usr/lib/OpenVerse/OpenVerse.tcl
to /usr/bin/OpenVerse. this would be done with the following command. 


ln -s /usr/lib/OpenVerse/OpenVerse.tcl /usr/bin/OpenVerse



If you wish to install the program in some other directory be sure to edit
the OpenVerse.tcl program and change the "set MV(libdir)" line within the
"platform unix" section to a value which suits your system. 

4. Run the OpenVerse.tcl program and click connect! thats it, just type to
chat, you will learn it's features over time.





Windows users (3.1/95/98/NT):
1. Install Tcl/TK for your platform if it is not already installed. Tcl/TK
can be downloaded for FREE from http://www.scriptics.com. Tcl/TK for
Windows 95/98 (version 8.05) can also be downloaded right here. this must
be installed for OpenVerse to run. 
2. Download The OpenVerse software. 
3. Unzip The OpenVerse program with your favorite WinZip type program. 
4. Run the OpenVerse.tcl program and click connect! thats it, just type to
chat, you will learn it's features over time.





Macintosh users:
1. Install Tcl/TK for your platform if it is not already installed. Tcl/TK
can be downloaded for FREE from http://www.scriptics.com. This must be
installed for OpenVerse to run. You can also download it here for a PPC
(binhex) MacTk8.2.Final.PPC.sea.hqx 
2. Download The OpenVerse software. 
3. Unzip The OpenVerse program with your favorite Stuffit type program. 
4. Move the WISH program from the tcl package into the OpenVerse directory. 
5. Run the Wish program from the OpenVerse directory and click file. Select
source and choose the OpenVerse.tcl program. Click connect and you are on
your way! thats it, just type to chat, you will learn it's features over
time.
